Since 2023, I’ve proudly been a qualified interior designer—a second career inspired by my deep passion for interiors, design, and art. My corporate background has been a strong foundation in this creative field. It allows me to blend strategic thinking with artistic vision. The power of a mood board
Creating a mood board is a vital part of my design process. This visual tool serves as a compass, guiding decisions on layout, dimensions, materials, and colours. With this strong foundation, selecting furniture, fixtures, fabrics, and accessories becomes seamless and cohesive.
A lifetime of design inspiration
My love for design began as a teenager when I assembled my first IKEA piece by Niels Gammelgaard—now a collector’s item! Over the years, my partner and I have restored several old houses, living in spaces both large and small, with and without children. These experiences have deepened my understanding of how living needs evolve. Designing our own homes, from custom layouts to built-in cabinetry and even a compact garden office, has given me invaluable practical experience to complement my formal training.
Design thinking enhances corporate work
Interestingly, my design mindset has also improved my corporate work. Thinking like a designer helps me focus on aligning vision and ambition before diving into strategies and tactics. While it’s a recognised best practice, many workplace discussions often centre on processes and operational details. When this happens, I guide teams back to the ‘mood board,’ helping them connect their actions to broader organisational goals.
Bringing your interior vision to life
I now balance my work with an 80-20 strategy: four days for corporate projects and one day for creative pursuits. On this dedicated day, I help clients bring their interior dreams to life. Whether you need a mood board, layout advice, or a full-service interior design, I’m here to help. For larger projects, I primarily work in the western Netherlands.
